Wiltshire Council are proposing that a road be constructed joining
the B4069 (Swindon Road) to the A350 at Morrison’s roundabout.
As you can see from the map, the proposed route for this road
will pass over the fields to the south of Birds Marsh Wood,
this will enclose an area on which the Council propose to allow
the construction of more than 800 houses. These are the fields
which make it possible for the woods to support the quantity
and variety of wildlife that makes Birds Marsh and it’s
environs such a special place. They are also the fields which
improve the quality of life for so many people in Chippenham.
If you care about:
• The flora and fauna in the wood and fields
•
Access to an unspoilt recreational area which is free to all
•
Free exercise
•
Free fruit and mushrooms.
•
Keeping the village of Kington Langley separate from Chippenham
by the use of the rural buffer zone.
•
Preventing flooding in Chippenham town centre by maintaining
the water table
•
Building a sustainable community in Chippenham
•
Sustaining Chippenham’s carbon footprint by avoiding becoming
a commuter town. Also, the trees in the wood will continue to
absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen; cutting them down will
contribute to global warming.
•
The ability to walk and exercise there promotes the growth of
a Chippenham town community. This is especially important for
people living on main roads or in isolated lanes.
Please email or write to Wiltshire Council and register your
objection based on the above points or any other objection of
your own before 31st December. The address to use is: ‘spatialplanningpolicy@wiltshire.gov.uk’ or
Spatial Planning Team., Wiltshire Council, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge,
BA14 8JN
This will help our campaign defeat this act of vandalism.
If you can think of any objections not listed above, please
let us know so that we can add them to our list. Once again,
please note objections should be sent before 31st December.
